STARBOARD! ("the App") is developed and operated by Dale Gass / SailDG ("we", "us", "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the App collects and how it is used.
The App uses your device's GPS to provide real-time race timing, distance-to-line calculations, speed, heading, and race recording features. All location data is processed and stored entirely on your device. We do not upload, transmit, or store your GPS data on any server.
The App does not include any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or tracking tools. We do not collect usage analytics. We do not serve ads. We do not build user profiles.
Race tracks, mark positions, and recordings are saved locally on your device. If you choose to export or share this data (GPX, KML, CSV, or mark files) using the iOS share sheet, that is an explicit action you take — we do not transmit, collect, or retain any exported data.
Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment information. Any personal data associated with your purchase (such as your Apple ID email) is managed by Apple under their Privacy Policy.
The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since we collect no personal data at all, there is no age-specific data to manage.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update it within the App and on this page. The effective date above will be revised accordingly.

By downloading, installing, or using STARBOARD! ("the App"), you agree to the following terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on any Apple device you own or control, subject to the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. You may not reverse-engineer, modify, or redistribute the App.
The App is a race timing aid and is not a navigation device. GPS accuracy depends on your device hardware, satellite visibility, atmospheric conditions, and other factors beyond our control. Do not rely on the App for navigation safety. The App is not a substitute for proper seamanship, a proper lookout, knowledge of the Racing Rules of Sailing, or any other safety measure. Always maintain situational awareness on the water.
While the App strives for accurate countdowns and time-to-line estimates, we make no warranty that timing information is exact. Race committee signals and clocks are the official authority. Use the App as an aid, not a definitive time source.
You are solely responsible for compliance with the Racing Rules of Sailing, your class rules, and any sailing instructions for your event. The App does not interpret or enforce racing rules.
The App offers auto-renewing subscriptions (weekly, monthly, and yearly) managed entirely through Apple. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID subscription settings. Free trial eligibility is determined by Apple.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, SailDG and its developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to property damage, personal injury, lost race results, or penalties arising from on-course decisions made using information provided by the App. Our total liability for any claim related to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App or subscription in the preceding 12 months.
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

Sail close to each end of the start line and tap "Set P Start" (port mark) and "Set S Start" (starboard mark) from the map menu. The app uses your GPS position to define the line.
Yes. All features — GPS timing, recording, navigation, and countdown — work completely offline. The app only needs your phone's built-in GPS.
Install the GPS Broadcaster companion app on a second iPhone. Place it in a waterproof case near the bow. It streams GPS data peer-to-peer over local Wi-Fi to the main app on your iPad — no internet needed. Pair devices by scanning a QR code.
Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, select STARBOARD!, and tap Cancel. Or visit Apple's subscription management page.
